Where fees come from
Two different costs get lumped together as "fees." Separating them makes it clear what you actually pay.
Network fee
This is paid to the blockchain, not the market, to get your transaction confirmed. It rises and falls with network demand and is unavoidable. Monero's fees are typically small and stable; Bitcoin's can spike when the network is busy, which matters most on small orders.
Market commission
This is the market's cut for providing escrow, dispute resolution and the platform. It is a percentage of the order and funds the moderation and infrastructure that make trading with a stranger workable.
Avoiding waste
- Batch purchases where sensible so a fixed network fee is spread over more value.
- Prefer a low-fee coin for small orders.
- Do not leave dust balances scattered on the market; consolidate withdrawals sensibly.
